Short Madrigal Scripts

The Fool Hardies

Jesters

These scripts are 25-30 minutes and have an outline that go along with the courses for the evening.  If you are short on actors or don’t want a long play, these can work well:

FOOL HARDIES I “UNEMPLOYED”
2 Males, 3 Females

Out-of-work political consultants, the Fool Hardies try to find their place in the Royal Court.

FOOL HARDIES II “SECRET SERVICE”
2 Males, 3 Females

Seeing an ad for secret service detail, the Fool Hardies apply to protect the King.

FOOL HARDIES III “LORD OF MISRULE”
2 Males, 3 Females

The Jester quits his job, and the Fool Hardies compete against each other for the position.

Shakespeare’s Shorts

These two Shorts also have a short plot and follow the traditional outline for the evening.

HAMLET & MACBETH
5-7 Males, 4 Females, 4-5 M/F, Courtiers, 4 Extras M/F

In this, we’ve combined two in one. The Town Crier is scrambling for entertainment for the Court, so Jester uses short versions of Hamlet and Macbeth that the Town Crier wrote. Except the Town Crier doesn’t recognize these versions. At all.

TWELFTH NIGHT
6 Males and 4 Females, Extras M/F

Two twins, a clown, and  Jedi knight walk in to a Shakespearean play. Duke Orsino loves Lady Olivia who loves Viola (who’s disguised as Cesario) who loves Duke Orsino. Talk about a mixed-up comedy!
